Laminate Flooring Installation Method

Laminate Installation Methods

One of the major difference between laminate flooring and other flooring options is the wide variety of installation methods. Each installation option has its own specific requirements, which can all affect the difficulty of your installation job and the durability of your floor. The installation methods you have at your disposal include:

  • Glue Method: The glue method is the most secure installation method, although it is generally the most time consumed. With this method, your laminate flooring is glued directly onto the underlay. A disadvantage of this method is that you must allow time for the glue to dry before your floor is usable.
  • Glue Less Method: While less secure, the glue less installation method is much easier and quicker. In this method, interlocking laminate planks are snapped together to complete your flooring.
  • Rotate & Click Method: With the rotate and click method, you will attach your laminate flooring planks together at an angle and then rotate down until it is flat against the floor.
  • Horizontal Insertion Method: The horizontal insertion method allows you to lie your laminate planks flat on the floor and then lock them together, which makes this choice especially adept for hard to install areas like corners.
  • Slide & Click Method: The slide and click method is particularly useful due to its simplicity. With a plank in place, all you have to do is slide the next plank down until it locks into place, continuing the process until your installation is completed.
