What size air conditioner do I need?

Here is the easiest way to find out the cooling size or capacity of your existing air conditioning system:

• Go to your outdoor unit (condenser) that looks like this:
  
• Find and take a picture of the label that looks like this:
  
• Find one the following codes in the model number — it will tell you what the capacity is:
  

  If you see this…	…then your capacity is this
  018 or 18	1.5 tons
  024 or 24	2 tons
  030 or 30	2.5 tons
  036 or 36	3 tons
  042 or 42	3.5 tons
  048 or 48	4 tons
  060 or 60	5 tons

  (so in the example above the capacity is 4 tons)
